Looking to finally make a break from FireFox and its now-familiar memory leak, I tried Google’s Google Chrome web browser when it first came out, and I wasn’t impressed. It was a little slow compared to IE, and it didn’t have all the plug-ins I like with FireFox. The verdict was good, but not my favorite. However, the more I hear about Google Chrome, the more I’m tempted to give it a second chance. The security is nice, but the fact that Google Chrome just might be the fastest web browser on the planet is another helpful reason to make the switch.
I wouldn’t have believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. Sure, the benchmark numbers are nice when it comes to showing Chrome’s marked improvement over initial releases, but… wow, just watch this promotional video and tell me you’re not impressed. Chrome loads at a staggeringly fast 2700 frames per second.
Google’s browser is faster than lightning, sound, and even a potato fired from a cannon! While I’m well aware it’s a stunt, and a lot of conditions can influence the speed at which a browser loads, that video is too impressive for me not to give Chrome a second chance.
