Israel has a lot of enemies in the Middle East, and I doubt they need to make more. However, it appears they just might be doing that, if Lebanon’s side of the story is to be believed. Lebanon accuses Israel of co-opting traditionally Middle Eastern food, marketing it as Israeli food, and making millions of dollars, so they turned their greatest weapon on Israel: 300 Lebanese chefs took part in the making of the world’s largest dish of hummus.
Israel’s record hummus was 4 tons; Lebanon’s record hummus was more than 10 tons, and it was part of a double world record. Not only was it the biggest hummus, it was also the world’s largest earthenware dish. Beat that, giant meatball! Tie that, giant bottle of wine! It took the 300 chefs in Ain Saadeh, Lebanon 7 tons of chickpeas, 2 tons of tahini, and nearly a million olives-worth of olive oil to crank out the epic hummus. Hopefully someone had a few hundred thousand falafels on hand, otherwise all that hummus will be going to waste.
One, two, three, four, I declare a food war! Bring it on, Scotland! Our bourbon beats your whisky all day long!
