Well, Floyd Landis has finally admitted to what we all know to be true. Landis, the disgraced cyclist bets known for being the only person to have had his Tour De France title stripped of him for use of performance-enhancing drugs, spent several years fighting the allegations only to finally give up and admit that he used performance-enhancing drugs. While that’s good that he’s finally being honest, he’s also decided that it’s time to drag everyone else down with him, claiming without proof that Lance Armstrong is a doper, and that team managers and officials turned a blind eye to the rampant cheating in cycling’s marquee event.
Landis goes into detail about how the drugs were administered, using blood transfusions that were designed to make catching doping significantly harder. The person he claims trained him to dope himself? Lance Armstrong’s coach, Johan Bruyneel. “He and I had lengthy discussions about it on our training rides during which time he also explained to me the evolution of EPO testing and how transfusions were now necessary due to the inconvenience of the new test,” claims Landis.
Do I think cyclers cheat? Of course they do. They’re in one of the hardest sports in the world and they need all the help they can get. Cycle racers have always cheated, and always will cheat. If scientists can pop pills and , why can’t cyclists dope blood?
