It has to be strange to be (former?) Cleveland Cavaliers coach Mike Brown. You’ve guided your team of LeBron James and the Other Guys to the NBA Finals, won two conference championships, and you won 66 games this year. However, if rumors are to be believe, Mike Brown has been fired by Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert and company. The only person you have to blame is yourself, if you’re Coach Brown. Well, yourself and the Boston Celtics.
Cleveland has one shot at staying relevant in NBA discussions. That team has to keep All Star and MVP LeBron James, AKA the best basketball player alive right now. In order to keep LBJ, you have to show him that you’re working to improve the team, and that you’re doing your best to surround him with good players and that you’re committed to winning, not just content with having Snuggie Night to improve ticket sales. Not winning regular season games, winning in the post-season.
In order to do that, you need to land a marquee free agent and hire a hot new head coach. They might have trouble with part 1, but they can definitely hire any coach they want. Well, any coach LeBron wants.
