The world’s most dangerous phone number doesn’t belong to the Amityville Horror house, or even belong to anyone in America. The supposedly-cursed phone number was issued by Mobitel, a Bulgarian phone company. However, after 3 deaths in 10 years, all of which happened under suspicious murder or murder-like circumstances, Mobitel has actually suspended the phone number 0888-888-888. Here’s a brief history of the phone number of the beast.
The first person to have the number was former Mobitel boss Vladimir Grashnov. He died of cancer in 2001 at age 48. Rumors persist that he was poisoned by a business rival with access to radioactive material. The second person to fall victim to the cursed number was Konstantin Dimitrov, a reputed mob boss who was gunned down by a lone assassin in 2003 while in the Netherlands inspecting his massive drug empire. The third, and most recent, death was that of Konstantin Dishliev, who was both a crooked businessman and a drug smuggler (the best of both worlds!), who was gunned down outside an Indian restaurant in Sofia, Bulgaria, just a few months after taking over the phone line to hell in 2005.
Of course, you could argue that most of these men were killed over their drug trade or shady business deals, not their unlucky phone number. However, that is a lot of dead drug lords/business moguls for one phone number.
