Claire Hallam was looking for a place to park in Lewisham, a neighborhood in South London. Since London, England, is one of the biggest cities in the world, parking is at a premium. So when Claire saw a blue P parking sign, indicating that sometimes you can park there and sometimes you can’t, she pulled over, hopped out of the car, and got a better look at the fine print. The stop was less than a minute, yet Claire still got hit with a £60 fine!
When she appealed the fine, it was doubled.
I can’t speak for everyone else, but I do this all the time. Maybe it’s time to get some glasses or something, but I always have trouble reading those signs while traveling, and generally always pull over to read the sign properly. About the only time I don’t is when I don’t think it pertains to me or when it’s in big, easy-to-read letters.
