In one of the most unusual rows in the sporting world’s history, the French national team has decided that they’re done taking orders and are putting their foot down. After team striker Nicolas Anelka was sent home by the French Football Federation, or FFF, the team has decided that they’re not going to take it anymore and that they’re basically going to revolt against team coach Raymond Domenech. The situation has gone from bad to worse for France, who basically have only the slimmest chance of winning their group, or even advancing to the next round of the World Cup.
The rats are already streaming off the sinking ship. Team director Jean-Louis Valentin has taken to the media, announcing his resignation and his shame at the antics of the team: “Ask the players, they do not want to involve themselves any more. It’s unacceptable. They don’t want to train. It’s a scandal for the French, it’s a scandal for the federation and the French team. It is a shame. As for me, it’s over. I’m leaving the federation. I’m sickened and disgusted.”
The FFF contacted the German team, to whom Les Bleus immediately surrendered.
