When it comes to hide and seek, all you have to do is ask any kid where to look first and they’ll tell you either one of two things: check the closet and check under all the beds. When Adam Magee called the police and reported an intruder in his house on Stockton Road in Hartlepool, he assumed cops were smarter than a toddler. As it turns out, while cops searched the house top-to-bottom, they neglected to look under the bed where the thief was hiding.
The 30-year-old Magee lays down for a good night’s rest, only to discover William Sowerby, 42, had been hiding under the bed the entire time. Magee throws himself onto the thief and pins him down until the police arrive a second time. Sowerby got three years in jail for his breaking and entering; no word on if the police were also punished for their hide-and-seek fail.
