Over the weekend in Las Vegas, Michael Jackson fanatics from around the world gathered to pick over the remains of the departed singer’s legacy at an auction organized by Julien Auctions. Among the many things sold was the iconic sequined glove (that one in the picture) the singer wore on the 1984 Victory tour he did with his brothers as The Jacksons. This one piece of history, expected to sell for $20-30,000, actually sold for $190,000. That’s right, Michael Jackson’s one glove sold for more than the average American home.
The glove is actually studded with Swarovski crystals, which explains why it is so eye-catching. As for why the glove sold for nearly 10 times what it was expected to get, the only reason I can think of is great timing by auction house owner Michael Julien. After all, it’s been a year since MJ passed, and he was all over the news over the weekend, so it’s no surprise that there was a frenzy over his auction.
Truly, he’s worth more dead than alive.
