“Take me out to the ball game” became “take me out on a stretcher” for one fan of the Texas Rangers (or possibly their opponents last night, the Cleveland Indians). The man was seated in the second deck of the three-tiered Rangers Stadium at Arlington in Arlington, Texas, when he spotted a foul ball coming his way. Like most fans, he was super excited about the chance to catch a freebie and leaned over the rail to get it. Unfortunately, he leaned a little too far and fell 30 feet into the stands below!
The game was halted for 16 minutes to allow crews to put the man on a stretcher and rush him to St. Peter’s Hospital in Fort Worth. In spite of the scary fall, the man is believed to be okay as he was responsive and had control of his extremities at the time he was taken off on a stretcher. Talk about your incredible luck (or magical interference). After all that work, I hope he held onto the foul ball because he definitely deserves a free souvenir!
