If there’s one thing you can say about Steven Ortiz, it’s that he’s a great salesman. I mean, how else could someone turn an old cell phone into a Porsche? Steven’s journey took two years and 14 trades, but he somehow managed to convert a used cell phone he got for free from a friend into a 2000 Porsche Boxster S. He did it all legally via the magic of Craigslist.
It worked in increments. First he upgraded the cell phone via trade, then moved that phone for an iPod Touch. He kept moving up, to a MacBook Pro, dirt bikes, and eventually, a 1987 Toyota 4 Runner. He swapped the Toyota for a 1975 Ford Bronco, and that Bronco, which is considered a collectible, turned into the Porsche. As for Steven, he’s enjoying his Porsche, but looking to trade it in on a car that’s a little easier (and cheaper) to maintain.
No doubt he’ll have the car up for sale on Craigslist soon. Maybe he can turn that Porsche into a house or something! I wouldn’t put anything past this kid.
