There’s a dark side to social networking. Sure, you can see some great stuff on there when your friends find and share an especially cool link, but let’s be honest with ourselves for a moment. Most of what our friends post to their Facebook pages is boring crap that they barely care about and that you, the uninterested viewer, definitely doesn’t care about. If only there was a way to express your indifference to your friend’s FarmVille spam! Oh wait, there is: Facebook generation, meet the “Meh” button.
Now, when your friends share something dumb, you can let them know immediately that you regret having wasted your time on clicking through to whatever content they were sharing. “What’s great about real-time technology is that you see the results immediately. You don’t have to wait,” said Todd Greene, CEO of technology and social gaming company Pub Nub. Just what I always wanted, a way to share my derision without getting arrested at Starbucks!
I’d love to see this feature take off and completely derail Facebook’s upward trajectory.
