When Roger Clemens went in front of Congress in 2008 to discuss the federal government’s investigation into the steroid abuse rampant in Major League Baseball, he said with emphasis: “Let me be clear. I have never taken steroids or HGH.” Then, the Mitchell Report came out, and Brian McNamee gave federal investigators a bag full of Roger’s used steroid needles. Not only was the Rocket left with egg on his face, a big disgrace, now the federal government is looking to put him back into his place, a jail cell. Clemens was indicted by a grand jury in Washington, D.C. for lying under oath.
Now, what are the odds Clemens used steroids? Those are pretty certain (even scientists use PEDs). What are the odds Clemens will do jail time? Well, that depends. If he continues to push his luck, he just might end up in jail. If he pulls a Miguel Tejada and just pleads guilty to the charges, he’ll get a year or two on probation and a comparative slap on the wrist. Given how Roger’s acted during the whole steroids trial, odds are he’ll be spending time in the federal pen.
