Police officers have a litany of uniform rules they have to follow. Their nametag has to be placed just so, they have a lot of equipment they’re required to wear. They have official police undershirts to wear beneath their uniforms. Everything from the shine of their shoes to the crease in their slacks is monitored and graded. In some police departments, this regimented organization extends all the way to where the sun doesn’t shine, as West Midlands Police gave its officers “advice” on what sort of underwear to wear while on duty.
The official police statement is that the underwear announcement in the messages of the day section of the police intranet was merely a suggestion. “There’s no new force policy on underwear, but all officers and staff coming into contact with the public are asked to adopt a commonsense approach when choosing what underwear is worn so they remain smart,” said a police spokesman.
I guess police with plumber’s butt is a big problem in England? They should just issue them all life-saving underwear and get it over with.
