John-Theodore:Anderson, AKA John Theodore Anderson, must be off his rocker. First of all, he’s suing not one, but three attorneys at once: Douglas Shumway, Benjamin Schramm, and Michael Van. If that’s not enough to make you doubt his mental state, there’s also the fact that he’s suing the three men for $38 quadrillion dollars. Yes, it’s a real number, and no, no one would ever be able to pay that as the entire world only has about $24 trillion dollars in total currency available. Oh yeah, he also goes by John-Theodore:Anderson, to properly spread the icing on the nut cake.
The dispute is over a mine in Southern Utah. Anderson believes the mine’s former owners owed him money, so he put a lien on the property. Thanks to this, things spiraled out of control and next thing you know, quadrillions are up in the air. “This case, no matter how strange or funny, makes us better at our jobs because you can’t just go A to Z,” said Shumway of Anderson’s unusual court filings, demeanor, and general life. “Mr. Anderson is throwing numbers and smiley faces into my alphabet, and I appreciate that, even though in the end I think he will be sorely disappointed with the result.”
