Lois Speelman started working at Walmart as a store greeter in 2000. When she turned 96 years old, she took retirement and left her post as a Walmart greeter in Franklin, Wisconsin. However, she just couldn’t stay away (she missed her coworkers) and she returned to work again at age 97. That was three years ago, as today Lois celebrates her 100th birthday (while at work). Where else would she celebrate it?
Lois says that long life runs in her family (her mother lived to be 102), but she says that without Walmart, she wouldn’t have made it this long. “I just enjoy people. That’s what keeps me going. If I didn’t have Walmart, I don’t think I’d have made it,” she maintains. Not only does Lois work, she works a staggering 35 hours a week. She even drives herself to and from work at age 100!
Amazing, isn’t it? If I’m that active at 50, I should be so lucky. This woman is incredible.
