One of the professional athlete’s favorite ways to raise money for charity is via cereal. For whatever reason, athletes just love taking their face and jersey, putting those things on the cover of a box of off-brand cereal, and giving the money (or a portion of the money) to charity. Doug Flutie did it with his Flutie Flakes; now Chad Ochocinco was going to do it with his Chad Ochocinco’s Cereal, except for one small problem. Ochocinco’s Cereal was mistakenly printed with a phone sex number on the back of the box.
The error, a mistake in prefix, was attributed to the box’s printers, PLB Sports (a company that specializes in celebrity charity cereals). The number, meant to connect cereal-munchers to the charity Feed The Children, instead went to a naughty number where users were given several slutty but uncharitable suggestions, then asked for their credit card number. Kroger, the grocery store that carried the Ochocinco’s, pulled the boxes from shelves. Ochocinco remains confident that PLB will correct the error and get the cereal back onto shelves.
