The Forbes World 100 rankings are always fun. No matter what list they put out, from the world’s richest person to the richest Americans, there’s always some kind of debate that erupts. However, there’s no list more complicated or nebulous than the World’s Most Powerful lists. In this case, Forbes ranks Michelle Obama as the world’s most powerful woman. Interestingly, she may actually be the least-powerful woman on the list, in a true sense of power.
Is Michelle Obama popular? Sure. She’s on lots of magazine covers and people listen to her when she talks, but she’s not got any power in the true sense. I mean, they have Ms. Obama, a woman who has no job and no authority to do anything, as being more powerful than the woman in charge of Kraft Foods, the woman who leads PepsiCo, the woman who leads Germany, the world’s biggest pop star, and even the woman who is second in line for the Presidency after Vice President Joe Biden.
Then again, a lot of people are more powerful than Nancy Pelosi, who will be lucky to retain her Speaker of the House position. Among those more powerful than San Fran Nan are Oprah, Lady Gaga, and Ellen Degeneres.
