Beatrice Delap, a nine-year-old student at Meridian Primary School in Greenwich, England, needed a little help. She was hoping to lead a mutiny against her teachers, and who better to reach out to than a pirate? Specifically the world’s most famous fictional pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow. Fortunately, she knew where to find him–right next door, filming at the Old Naval College. Beatrice wrote a letter, and the next thing you know, Johnny Depp–in full Captain Jack Sparrow costume–shows up at her elementary school.
Here’s her letter to Johnny/Captain Jack:
Captain Jack Sparrow,
At Meridian Primary School, we are a bunch of budding young pirates and we were having a bit of trouble mutiny-ing against the teachers, and we’d love if you could come and help.
Beatrice Delap, aged nine, a budding pirate.
How cool is it for Beatrice and her classmates that Johnny Depp showed up, in character, to talk to the kids? I mean, it’s not even Talk Like A Pirate Day, and there he is, speaking to the kids and hanging out! Sometimes, I think I don’t like Johnny Depp, then he does something cool like this and I start liking him again.
