When Brett Milligan’s company, Greenworks, needed to clear a 2-acre vacant lot in southwestern Portland, Oregon, he didn’t turn to the gas-powered weed eater. Instead, he turned to nature’s perfect weed-eating machine, the goat. Rather than hiring a crew of men, Milligan rented a crew of 50 goats from Goat Rental NW to clear the weeds from the lot. As you can see, the goats are a lot cuter than your average lawncare crew.
The novelty of the 50 goats penned into the giant weedy lot attracted the interest of not dozens, but hundreds of gawkers who watched as the cute critters bull-dozed their way through pounds of weeds with the efficiency you’d expect from a creature that can eat pretty much anything with no gastrointestinal problems. Goats are awesome for this kind of work, and goats are awesome in general. The only problem is they need more supervision to stay out of trouble than the average human worker.
