The gubernatorial race for the state of New York is basically between two men: Andrew Cuomo and Carl Paladino. One, Cuomo, is the Democrat son of former New York governor Mario Cuomo. Paladino is the GOP candidate for the same position. However, thanks to New York State’s crazy debate format, all the fringe weirdos got a chance to speak, and no one was more entertaining than Jimmy McMillan of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party.
When asked his position, McMillan stated, “It all boils down to one thing: rent, it’s too damn high.” When asked about his position on gay marriage, McMillan rhymed, “If you want to marry a shoe, I’ll marry you.” Of course, while he stole the show with that epic beard and killer mustache, he wasn’t the only one who got off some good lines.
Libertarian candidate Warren Redlich said he was the atypical New York politician, saying, “”I’ve never been caught with a prostitute, my dad wasn’t governor, and I’ve never been convicted of a crime,” while former madam Kristin Davis of the Anti-Prohibition Party compared her brothel to the MTA, quipping, “The key difference between the MTA and my former escort agency is that I operated one set of books and my former agency delivered on-time and reliable service.”
