HEY, GUESS WHAT? IT’S INTERNATIONAL CAPS LOCK DAY TODAY, SO EVERYONE MASH DOWN THE CAPS LOCK KEY AND GET TO SCREAMING ON THE INTERNET!
Actually, you know what? Don’t. Just don’t. I thought about it, but I decided that there’s no way I could do that, either to the readers of PopFi or to myself. I take pride, great pride, in my keyboarding skills, and people who use all caps lock in their emails and blog posts just send my blood pressure through the roof. I’d rather see someone type in all lowercase, since that’s lazy. To deliberately lock your caps lock key and type away like that? It’s like you’re trying to offend me. It’s like the person typing is going out of their way to be extra annoying, and I hate… no, I loathe that. The only way you can make all-caps text worse is if you type it in Comic Sans. Maybe I’m just a snob, but I freely admit to snobbery. If I can learn to type, any monkey can learn to type.
Weirdly, International Caps Lock Day isn’t just on October 22. There are actually two International Caps Lock Days, June 28 and October 22, according to the self-proclaimed official website of International Caps Lock Day (which is as hilariously bad as you’d expect).
