Once upon a time, Allen Iverson was the biggest name in basketball. The man known as The Answer is one of the NBA’s best players, a former MVP, a bronze medalist at the Olympics, a former Rookie of the Year, an 11-time All-Star, and one of the most dynamic men to ever lace up a pair of sneakers. However, that’s his past. The future of Allen Iverson is a 2-year, $4-million-dollar contract with Besiktas of the Turkish Basketball League.
Iverson, who bombed out of two NBA teams last year, has had to take his career to Turkey the country (not the food) in an attempt to regain the attention of the NBA, as well as to make a little money. The Turkey trip comes in a time when Iverson is dogged by accusations of drinking and gambling problems in his personal life. You hate to see a thrilling, brilliant athlete like this end his career on such a down note, but here’s hoping he can revitalize his career in Turkey and make a triumphant return to America.
