Just when you thought it was safe to go to the multiplex. As it turns out, today’s a big day for Canadian teen pop star Justin Bieber. Not only did Bieber launch his My World fragrance line, he’s also celebrating the debut of his 3D movie trailer. Justin Bieber hits 3D movie screens in Never Say Never on Valentines Day 2011. Hooray.
Bieber is following in the footsteps of such influential concert films as Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds, Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience, and the Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter. Okay, maybe not the last one so much, but the first two definitely. Well, hopefully not the last one; as much as I’m not a True Bieblever, I’d hate to see anyone get hurt at one of his child-filled concerts.
“We talked about the story of us sort of going back to his life and seeing a lot of archival footage and things that have never been seen that his mom shot when he was a kid,” said the film’s director, Jon Chu. “We don’t have as much of that in the trailer, [and] the movie uses a lot, ’cause we’re finding it really fascinating to see him grow. It’s one of the very few generations that have been able to be shot when they were a kid to a teenager and see all the steps of his development.”
