A diamond smuggler in Chennai, India, went the extra mile in his attempts to get through airport security with his stolen stash of stones.  He didn’t wear a vest to hide his 2060 diamonds, he swallowed them.  Mohammed Shakif, a 43-year old from Galle, Sri Lanka, swallowed 2060 diamonds inside several condoms.  His ruse didn’t work; rather than getting through the airport, he just ended up giving himself hemorrhoids.

“Even during questioning, he could not sit comfortably and when questioned, he told the police that he was suffering from piles,” said Suburban Police commissioner SR Jangid.  A few bananas later, and the police were recovering the diamonds after they had, ahem, passed on through to the other side of Mr. Shakif’s digestive tract.

It doesn’t seem like the easiest or smartest way to get diamonds across a border.  In fact, it seems like a pretty crappy idea (pardon the pun).  The diamonds will be fine on the other end, but pity the poor fellow who has to dig them out of the poop pile.
