It’s tough to get people excited about midterm elections. I live in a state that had a couple of seats up for grabs, yet I was never really thrilled about the prospect that I got to choose who would next be representing my great state in the United States Congress. Even in a battleground, Tea Party state, in which Rand Paul bested both the Republican nominee in the primary and the Democrat candidate in the general election, the 2010 midterm elections were more annoying than interesting. Still, the Obama backlash is in full effect throughout the country as Republicans gained a plethora of formerly Democratic seats in Congress.
Among the more saddening results were the defeat of Linda McMahon, wife of WWE head honcho Vince McMahon, in the Senate race in Connecticut. Not that I know anything about Linda’s politics, or even care about her state, but there’s no doubt Linda McMahon would’ve been a much more interesting Senator than whoever she was running against, if only because she’d be able to bring Hulk Hogan on board as an office aide to intimidate other Congressmen into voting her way. Also losing out was Jimmy McMillan of the Rent Is Too Damn High Party in the New York Governor’s race (which was won by Andrew Cuomo).
