That’s why Indian officials have taken an unusual step to ensure the security of US President Barack Obama: Indian authorities are knocking the coconuts from palm trees throughout Mumbai.
Every year, dozens of Indians are hurt or killed by falling coconuts, hence the need for ensuring that doesn’t happen to President Obama at coconut-filled sites like the Gandhi museum. Mani Bhavan, one of five places Obama will be visiting in Mumbai, is where Gandhi lived during the struggle for Indian independence. “We told the authorities to remove the dry coconuts from trees near the building. Why take a chance?” Mani Bhavan’s executive secretary, Meghshyam Ajgaonka.
Well, it’s either that or wear an anti-coconut coconut helmet.
