There are trick plays, and there are trick plays. During a middle school football game, Driscoll Middle School pulled off one of the most impressive trick plays I’ve ever seen in football at any level. Forget the Statue of Liberty play. The fumblerooski is old news. This gutsy fake snap and quarterback sneak is the craziest football play I’ve ever seen, and now it’s going viral. It was apparently during the middle school playoffs in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The quarterback takes the ball from the center. Even though it’s not a traditional snap, that’s all that’s required to start the play. Once he gets the ball, the quarterback looks at it and starts walking towards the officials, through the defensive line. Once he’s clear of the first line of defenders, he takes off for the score. He’s 10 yards away from the defense before anyone on the other team figures out what’s going on. Staggering.
If you’re the other team, that’s got to feel like being punched. Not only did you get beaten for the score, your humiliation is also one of the most popular videos on the Internet right now.
