They say everything is bigger in Texas, and apparently that goes for everything from HD screens to McDonald’s franchises. Amusingly enough, both the Cowboys HD screen and the largest McDonald’s built since 1990 are located in Irving, Texas. The Irving McDonald’s is a supersized fast food seller, covering 7800 square feet and employing 80 people according to owner Heath Massey. That’s twice the size and twice the head count of an average McDonald’s franchise!
The new restaurant was built on the site of a previous restaurant at a cost of $2.8 million dollars. The restaurant is expected to bring in about $4 million dollars per year in revenue. The previous Mickey D’s on the site had stood there for 37 years before being replaced by a colossus. The largest McDonald’s in the world is located in Orlando, Florida. No word on whether or not the Irving McDonald’s will host weddings or get any special food items brought in from Japan for their special opening ceremonies.
I guess America builds larger McDonald’s to replace those that have closed in recent years.
