Really, it’s a natural tie-in. Before the Hummer took its place, the go-to vehicle for the whole of the United States military was the versatile, light-weight, hard-to-kill Jeep. That’s why the Jeep was a natural choice to team up with Call of Duty: Black Ops and collaborate on a special edition version of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon known as the Jeep Wrangler Call of Duty: Black Ops Edition, which has been released at just the right time to capitalize on the Call of Duty fever sweeping the nation. You bought the video game, now buy the Jeep!
As befitting a game named Black Ops, the latest special edition car from Chrysler is an all-black jeep with Black Ops badges and other special features. It comes in two-wheel ($30,625) or four-wheel ($33,599) editions, both of which feature 32-inch gloss gray off-road rubber tires, Mopar taillamp guards and fuel filter, live axles with locking differentials front and rear, and a two-speed transfer case.
The goal of the new branded Jeep, per the impressively-named Jeep CEO Mike Manley, is to “expose the Jeep brand … to an entirely new group of consumers.” I’d say this would do it, all right.
