It was supposed to just be a fun performance in the neighborhood of San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. A street performer, whose typical act is juggling, was there and doing his thing when all of a sudden police showed up, followed shortly by the bomb squad. Police detained the performer and the bomb squad blocked off the area, all because of one little issue with the juggler’s props: one of his juggling balls looked like a grenade, and that caused a panic amongst the SFPD.
“You have to take all precautions because you never know,” said San Francisco Police Department spokesman Lt. Troy Dangerfield. “If you’re a juggler, and you’re juggling something that looks like it could be dangerous, please have a big sign saying it’s fake. Or just use bananas.”
Of course, using bananas could be a problem if the juggler is bananaphobic.
