It’s one of the more unusual rescue attempts I’ve ever seen, and it’s all over a dog. At Colorado’s imposing Lake Pueblo State Park, a springer spaniel by the name of Doc had a little accident while training to be a hunting dog. The unfortunate Doc tumbled 80 feet down the side of a cliff, but miraculously, he survived by landing on a narrow ledge. Therein lies the problem. How do you rescue Doc? Well, a Pueblo sheriff’s deputy named Dylan Jacketta put his mountaineering experience to use and rappelled down the cliff to rescue Doc the dog from the ledge!
That’s what you call an incredible escape, made even more miraculous by the fact that the rappelling had to be rescheduled on the count of darkness, leaving poor Doc stranded on the narrow ledge overnight. Rescuers passed down blankets to keep him from freezing to death and to give him something to sleep on, but fortunately for Doc and his owners, Deputy Jacketta was there and willing to make the attempt to rescue Doc.
