It’s one of the most horrifying incidents to ever occur in one of the biggest cities in the world.  In an old brownstone apartment in the Prospect Heights section of Brooklyn, New York, a bit-part actor named Michael Brea used a stainless steel sword to butcher his 55-year-old mother, Yannick Brea, in what appears to be a fit of madness.  Brea, 31, is best known for a stint on Ugly Betty.

The most horrifying aspect of the slaying, according to residents, is that they begged police to break into the apartment and put a stop to the violence inside, but for over an hour the NYPD refused to act, even leaving the scene at one point.  When cops finally did break in, t hey saw Yannick Brea dead as a result of multiple gashes to her head, inflicted by a sword which is typically used in Masonic ceremonies.

Apparently Brea yelled lots of religious-based condemnation, believing his mother was possessed by Satan.  According to witness Sydney Clare, one of the many folks to beg police to kick in the door, watched them take Brea away. “He yelled, ‘The greatest architect in the universe!’  He looked crazy.”  The sword was stolen by Brea from a Mason meeting earlier in the week; the greatest architect in the universe is a Masonic term for God.
