Last night, while walking past the television, I saw the new Ray LaMontagne song, “Beg Steal Or Borrow,” playing on television. It was just a brief snippet, then they introduced Cee-lo Green’s incredible “F— You” and its amazingly funny radio edit. As it turns out, what program I was walking by was the announcement of the 2011 Grammy Awards Nominees. I didn’t stay for the whole thing, as I don’t geek out on the Grammys like I do the Oscars, but it’s always interesting to know what new music is out there. MTV has the complete list of 2011 Grammy Awards nominees.
Apparently, the above mentioned artists are nominated for Song Of The Year, alongside Eminem, Miranda Lambert, and Lady Antebellum. It was far from Eminem’s only nomination. The Detroit rapper picked up a staggering 10 Grammy nominations, for Em picked up a staggering 10 Grammy nods, including Song and Record of the Year for “Love the Way You Lie” (which also got Best Rap Song nomination), Album of the Year and Rap Album of the Year for Recovery, Best Rap Solo Performance for “Not Afraid,” and even Pop Collaboration With Vocals (for B.o.B’s “Airplanes Part II”).
That’s a whole lot of Grammys right there. The closest behind him is Bruno Mars, with seven, followed by Jay-Z, Lady Antebellum, and Lady Gaga with six. I hope Em doesn’t pull a Taylor Swift and break one of his Grammys (and I hope Kanye West can keep his seat.)
