Good news, everyone! It’s not even 2011, and the first trailer for 2011’s future gigantic summer blockbusters have started to arrive! First out of the gate, launching the summer movie season with a bang (literally), is master of subtlety Michael Bay. The first trailer for the latest of Bay’s Transformers movies, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, has debuted.
To his credit, Michael Bay has chosen not to highlight star Shia LaBeouf in the first trailer. Weirdly, he also has chosen not to highlight the giant talking cars, crazy robot-on-robot action, or any of the usual bells, whistles, fire, and explosions that are part and parcel of every movie Michael Bay has ever done. Nope, this time Michael Bay reenacts the moon landing, and adds a crashed space ship full of dead robots. Even the movie’s logo is basically the word Transformers superimposed over a lunar horizon!
To say the least, it’s an odd choice, but when has Michael Bay ever done something logical?
