On Black Friday, an unfortunate Polish immigrant got more than she bargained for, but the culprit wasn’t overzealous shoppers. The people who beat her and left her battered and bruised were a pair of uniformed New York Police Department officers from the 100th Precinct. Ann Stanczyk was walking her dog Psotka when two police officers arrested and allegedly assaulted her over dog poop. Dog poop, Ann says, that did not belong to her terrier.
“They saw my dog and they said I didn’t clean up. I said, ‘No, she only pee.’ They, of course, not agree with me and I say, ‘Show me. Where is it?'” When the officers found dog feces nearby, they ordered her to pick it up. She continues, “I got scared. I pick up. I said, ‘It’s cold, not belong to my dog.‘ When I smiled and said I didn’t do anything, that made them very upset.”
That’s when the beating started. She says police hit her in the eye, the breast, and the stomach. She also had injuries to her wrists and knee. As for the police, they say Stanczyk caused the problem herself, yelling at the officers and locking her hands in front of her to prevent being put in handcuffs. All this fuss over a little terrier turd.
