It’s been a banner year for Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg. He’s the focus of a hit movie; he’s one of the youngest billionaires in the world, and his company Facebook has broken the 500 million user mark. It’s not a huge surprise that all this attention has made Zuckerberg a media darling. In fact, Mark Zuckerberg is Time’s Person of the Year for 2010.
This is a huge honor, and it’s reflective of the time and place in which we live. Zuckerberg’s creation has changed how we see the world completely. He’s changed the course of human interaction, relationships, news dissemination, end pretty much every aspect of modern culture thanks to his creation. For better or worse, we’re living in a Facebook world now, and it’s time we all get used to it.
Recently, I found out a friend of mine from college has cancer. How did I find this out? His wife created a Facebook group dedicated to helping him beat cancer. I didn’t even get a message about it, just an invite to the group. That’s the world Facebook has created.
