Buck Howdy is no stranger to notoriety. In fact, his album Aaaaah! Spooky Scary Stories and Songs won the 2010 Grammy Award for the Best Spoken-Word Album for Children. However, his latest success story isn’t for kids, but for the parents of kids who might be traveling this holiday season. The song in question, “Help You Make It to Your Flight,” is an entertaining parody of the Transportation Security Administration’s new enhanced screening policy set to the tune of the 1970 Kris Kristofferson hit “Help Me Make It Through the Night.” Grammy-winning children’s singer Buck Howdy wrote a song about airport groping, and it’s quite possibly one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard.
“It nearly wrote itself,” Howdy said of his surprise hit song. “I spent less time writing and recording it than anything I’ve ever done. To me, the determining factor was the fact that the body searches have been such a big news story,” he added, before expressing some concern about his next flight. “I’m concerned I’ll be on a wanted poster. In fact, I definitely expect to go through secondary screening.”
