I love a good flash mob. From the masterful manipulation of Improv Everywhere’s subway Star Wars to the Glee-themed flash mob group sings, people gathering to surprise other people in public is something that I love. I’m not sure why, since I hate Glee and all the other singing-themed shows, but when it happens as a surprise? It’s the best thing ever. The Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra had organized a great flash mob at the Roseville Galleria, where singers were to gather and sing Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus at the food court. Unfortunately, the group chorus idea was too popular and fire officials had to evacuate the mall after an aborted flash mob attempt.
The flash mob gathering point, the food court of the Roseville Galleria, was so strained with people that fire imspector Tom Dodaro said there were reports that the foundation was moving and creaking beneath the gathering. That’s what required the mall evacuation. Undeterred, the Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra flash mob headed outside and did their singing out in the parking lot.
