For a few scary moments, it seemed to Secret Service and Dallas police officials that some maniac was actually trying to hurt former President George W. Bush. Bush and his wife Laura were in their Preston Hollow home, outside of Dallas, when someone in a classic muscle car drove erratically onto George W. Bush’s property. This encroachment triggered an “executive threat” response, which in turn caused 13 Dallas police units to respond, as well as Bush’s Secret Service detail.
As it turns out, there wasn’t a threat; it was just a stuck accelerator. One of Bush’s neighbors was having a friend over to show off his classic muscle car. While showing off, the car’s gas pedal got stuck, which caused the car to lurch uncontrollably off the road and end up on Bush’s land. The driver was questioned and released, with police and security officials dismissing the incident as, “just an unfortunate accident.”
