Times are tough for Santa these days. After all, a lot of Real Bearded Santas are having trouble finding work. Meanwhile, other Santas seem to be getting naughtier and naughtier. San Francisco’s Santa was fired for naughtiness, and now other folks acting as Santa’s helpers are getting arrested at the mall for unruly behavior! According to Miami Township Police, two unruly women dressed as Santa Claus were arrested at the Dayton Mall during a gathering of Santarchists.
The two women arrested, Jacqueline S. Sallee and Susan Rudolph, are members of Santarchy Dayton, a gathering of people in Santa Claus outfits who get together to be unruly, go out drinking, and/or hand out candy and sing carols. It’s like a drunken Santa flash mob, but rather than gathering for a few minutes, they just hang out all night and talk about Krampus behind his back.
Santarchy Dayton insists that while their members might have had a little too much holiday cheer in their blood stream, that they were behaving completely appropriately. All the naughty caroling was done on the buses on the way to the mall; everything that took place within the mall was family-friendly. The two arrested Santas are being charged with criminal trespassing, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and public intoxication. Sallee faces an additional charge of assault.
