For years, I assumed that nobody ever won any prizes in that McDonald’s Monopoly promotion.  While I enjoyed (and do enjoy) collection the little tabs off of the drinks and meals of friends, I’ve never combined the right amount of tickets for a winning hand of Monopoly pieces.  As it turns out, people do win the million-dollar McDonald’s Monopoly prize, like Jonathon Kehoe, an unemployed man from Wisconsin.  Unemployed Jonathon Kehoe won the $1 million dollar grand prize in McDonald’s Monopoly game after revealing the game pieces for Park Place and Boardwalk.

“This is really a blessing, ya know,” Kehoe told the a local television station.  “Right at the end of my unemployment, I pulled the million dollar tag off a cup. I mean, it couldn’t be better.”

Do you know what meal Kehoe has to thank for his newly-found fortune?  Why, the McRib, of course.  Kehoe ordered a McRib extra value meal in October, pulled off the tabs from the fries and drink, and viola, millionaire.  Unlike regular Monopoly (or There Will Be Blood Monopoly), which is a game of skill and luck, McDonald’s Monopoly is all about being in the right place at the right time.
