Natalie Portman isn’t the only Hollywood power broker to be celebrating an addition to the family.  Elton John is also in a celebratory mood, thanks to some good news he and long-time partner David Furnish received.  The couple’s first child was born via surrogate mother in California.  Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, Elton John and David Furnish’s first child, was born on Christmas weighing 7 pounds 15 ounces.

“We are overwhelmed with happiness and joy at this very special moment,” said John and Furnish in a statement released to the media.  “Zachary is healthy and doing really well, and we are very proud and happy parents.”

The couple married in 2005 at the Windsor Guildhall; the pair have been together for 15 years.  The child’s middle… err, middlest… name comes from Elton John’s hit song “Levon.”  Like the titular hero of the song, this Levon was also born on Christmas Day.  The details of the surrogate parenting arrangement were not released.
