For over 30 years, Gene Gulinson has been practicing law in Gilbert, Arizona. During that time, he’s gone in and out of the Highland Justice Court thousands of times and he’s never been harassed, until one security search uncovered candy. Apparently, food is banned in the court, though nobody enforced that law until security guards confiscated Gulinson’s bag of pastries and a search of his briefcase yielded jawbreakers. When you offend a lawyer, the only response is a lawsuit. Gene Gulinson is suing the Highland Justice Court over the court’s candy ban.
It’s not the most unusual lawsuit I’ve seen; that would be the lawsuit in Italian court over a house full of demons. Still, the food ban for adults is pretty unusual, and the fact that Gulinson got away with it for so many years should tell you just how well security enforced these things in the past. Gulinson is seeking $75,000 from the city to make up for the dents in his reputation.
Yeah, good luck with that.
