With the conclusion of the unexpected Tuesday Night football game between the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles, that concludes the NFL regular season for 2011. That means it’s time to select the top NFL players for 2011. The line-ups are already set for the 2011 Pro Bowl. Tom Brady and Michael Vick were named as starting quarterbacks for the 2011 Pro Bowl. Fittingly, Brady’s New England Patriots had the most Pro Bowlers from the AFC, with six players making the team; Michael Vick’s former team, the Atlanta Falcons, had seven Pro Bowlers for the NFC, with Vick’s current team, the Philadelphia Eagles, had five total players selected.
“It’s a tremendous honor, obviously being a rookie and getting my feet wet in the NFL,” said Ndamukong Suh, first-time Pro Bowler and rookie starter for the Detroit Lions. “I can’t expect anything more … it’s only going to make me want to work harder to get back there again.”
Suh is one of 21 first-time Pro Bowl players, 7 from the AFC and 14 from the NFC, as well as one of four rookies to make the Pro Bowl. The only teams without a Pro Bowl representative were Buffalo, Cincinnati, Seattle, and Tampa Bay. There were 84 Pro Bowl players announced, with more replacements coming on the way. Peyton Manning was named to his record-tying 11th Pro Bowl, tying Brett Favre. Super Bowl participants will not play in the Pro Bowl, which has been moved to the week before the Super Bowl.
