If you live south of the Mason-Dixon line, prepare for everything to grind to a halt. There’s snow in the forecast, and from Texas to Georgia, the South is in a state of panic as the warmer climates get hit with something they don’t know how to handle, fluffy white stuff from the sky. The South is bracing for an epic snowstorm the likes of which it has never seen before. If New York can be paralyzed by a blizzard, imagine how bad things are going to be in Alabama where they don’t have snow plows!
Even if you’re not in the south, prepare for travel difficulties. A spokesman for Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines, Anthony Black, says the air travel service has planned for “approximately 1,400 Delta and Delta Connection flight cancellations system-wide Monday as the storm is at its peak — approximately 25% of all planned flights for the day.” American Airlines has cancelled 20 percent of its flights, with 100 cancelled in Dallas-Fort Worth alone. American Eagle has cancelled 180 flights. AirTran Airways has called off 270 flights in and out of Atlanta.
The governors of several southern states have declared states of emergency to properly prepare for the weather conditions. Here in Kentucky, I’m hoping that we’ll miss most of the mess; we’ve already gotten some rough weather this year and I don’t want any more of it.
