Carrington High School in North Dakota is something of a local wrestling powerhouse. Carrington has won three regional wrestling tournaments in a row, and was in position to capture their fourth, except for one problem: raccoons. At a tournament in Grand Forks, Carrington was all set to compete until school officials heard that the Carrington team was exposed to a live raccoon. A live raccoon caused the Carrington High wrestling team to be pulled from a tournament.
Why would the raccoon cause this problem? I have no idea. The team, who thought the raccoon they picked up was a dead raccoon until it woke up in the luggage compartment of the bus and took off running when the door was opened. Granted, raccoons are vicious, but if the raccoon doesn’t attack anyone and simply happens to not be dead? That’s kind of odd. I guess they were afraid of rabies, even though none of the other wrestlers in the tournament were at risk of anything.
