Say what you want to about roosters and chickens, but they can be dangerous to the untrained hand. After all, roosters are hardcore and, by nature, are fighters, and if you don’t know how to properly handle a rooster, you can get yourself in some serious trouble. In the case of Jose Luis Ochoa, you can get yourself killed. Jose Luis Ochoa was killed by a rooster at a cockfight in Tulare County, California.
Here’s the strange thing. Ochoa’s injury was a wound to the calf caused by the sharpened spur worn by a fighting cock. He drove back home to Delano, California, and went to the hospital in Kern County, California, rather than attending the hospital where the cockfight was taking place. The question of why he died from the injury hasn’t been answered, but the cause of his death has at least been determined.
The illegality of his cockfighting enterprise probably contributed to his unwillingness to seek medical treatment.
