When he was at Congress, he was Representative Chris Lee, a 49-year-old married father of a young son who campaigned on family values.  When he was on Craigslist, he was Chris Lee, a 39-year-old divorced lobbyist who sends shirtless pictures of himself to women.  Unfortunately for Representative Lee, a Republican from New York, he tried to pick up the wrong woman on Craigslist.  She connected the dots to the real person behind the fake story and sent all the email correspondence to Gawker.  Gawker broke the story of Rep. Chris Lee looking to pick up chicks online, and brought down his political career.  Lee resigned from Congress three hours after the news broke.

Is anyone shocked that a Congressman would pick up chicks?  Because I’m not.  After Eliot Spitzer and his call girl, why should anyone be surprised?  Politics attracts a particularly sleazy breed of human being with a tendency to let the power go to their head and an urge for indulgence.  Moreover, so much of politics is lying to get elected that I imagine most Congressmen have trouble being honest about anything, especially when out tomcatting.
