Whether you like all six of George Lucas’ Star Wars films or are a purist and really only appreciate the first three releases (or is that the final three in the saga?), the characters from the movies are iconic.
They’ve been reproduced over and over again. We’ve seen Darth Vader Potato Heads. R2-D2 made from Legos. Digitized Legos versions for your favorite gaming system. And the list goes on and on.
Now British artist Bjorn Hurri has added his take to Skywalker, Solo, that Princess with the funny hair, Yoda and the gang.
Hurri’s twist is that he’s set the Star Wars universe in a steampunk land.
It’s easy to imagine adding some gears and brass gizmos to the robots R2-D2 and C-3PO, but his conceptualizations of Yoda as a hookah-puffing guru and Han Solo as a goggle-clad, pipe-smoking pilot are definitely eye-catching.
Some of his works are incomplete, but it’s easy to imagine they’ll end up as framed works of art on a geek’s wall.
